Relationship Analysis Paper (15% or 75 points):
The paper should be 3-5 pages long, double-spaced, in Times New Roman font with 1” margins on all sides. It is due on the last day of class (May 6th), but feel free to turn it in before that.

This assignment asks you to take something you’ve learned and put it to use in analyzing relational dynamics. Choose one or more concept, theory, model, or framework that we have studied and use it to help

elucidate some relationship dynamic or phenomenon of interest to you. You can use a relationship of your own, one that you have observed (a friend’s, a parent’s, etc.), or one from a movie or TV.

You should accomplish the following, in this order:
(1) Explain the concept(s), theory(ies), or model(s) you’ve chosen and describe its utility in understanding communication and relationships (feel free to utilize two theories or models together or

multiple concepts – if done well, this will make your paper more sophisticated and better!).

(2) Then, you should describe the relationship you will analyze (only in as much detail as is necessary to understand the analysis). Feel free to use pseudonyms to maintain anonymity.

(3) Next, you should apply the concepts or theory to the relationship through a thoughtful analysis of some part of it.

(4) Finally, you should make a concluding argument about how this course material helps you better understand this relationship, as well as communication dynamics, more generally.
