Many psychological associations have established ethical codes or principles for the practice of psychology in the countries or regions they serve. The codes typically include references to dignity and human rights, education and training, privacy and confidentiality, and licensing. Some countries and regions do not abide by any ethical codes. As psychologists expand their global practice, many associations have expressed a need for a universal code of ethics that is applicable internationally. They argue that a universal code would ensure uniformity as psychologists work throughout the world. Web site links from a variety of professional associations and societies provide codes of ethics from around the world as well as a proposed universal code of ethics.
To prepare for this Discussion:
*Review Toward a Global Psychology: Theory, Research, Intervention, and Pedagogy. Pay special attention to the following sections: “ Guidelines for Ethical Practice,” “Going International,” “Ethical Guidelines of Allied International Associations,” and “Observations on Where to go from Here.”
*Select and review ethical codes from two different associations. Choose from the following, listed in the Learning Resources: American Psychological Association, Psychology and Counseling Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations, Singapore Psychological Society, and Turkish Psychological Association.
*Review the third draft of “The Universal Declaration of Ethical Principles for Psychologists,” in the Learning Resources.
*Consider which entries from each of the codes you selected and reviewed are the most out of sync with the proposed Universal Declaration of Ethical Principles for Psychologists.
*Think about how having many and sometimes disparate ethical codes affects the status and future of global psychology.
With these thoughts in mind: Write 1-page, No Plagiarism, APA style format, and must be cited with references. Thank you
(1).Describe the two ethical codes you reviewed.(2). Provide a description from each of the codes that you think are most out of sync with the Universal Declaration of Ethical Principles for Psychologists and why.(3). Then explain how having many different and sometime disparate ethical codes affects the status and future of global psychology.
