focus on making a scholarly analysis of the evidence provided in the readings.
1. Briefly define the following keywords: solidarity, black power, third world resistance, globalization,
labor exploitation, structural adjustment programs, neoliberalism.
2. Discuss how the black power and third world resistance movements challenge your own
preconceptions about the 1960s and 1970s, both in the U.S. and internationally. Describe how the
nationalist movements emerge from historical resistances to slavery and colonialism. Describe the
complexities of forming political solidarities that are discussed in the readings.
3. Consider the argument of the readings that globalization is not inevitable. Why is globalization not
inevitable? How do the author’s demonstrate this argument? What alternatives to globalization or
possibilities of resistance to it exist?
