You will need to do a little research for this essay and you will need to include at least four (4) sources on a separate Works Cited page following MLA format for in-text citations and citations on the Works Cited page. Step 1: Introduce your topic and at least two stances on the issue. State your thesis, which takes a stand on the issue and tells us what you think should be done. You may follow one of the other perspectives you present to the issue through your sources or you may come up with your own unique stance that differs and/or shares some, but not all of the other aspects you present. The key is to be clear about what you think—without saying “I think†of course.Persuade the reader to agree with your view.

Step 2: Present the various sides to the issue using your sources as support. Use at least a couple of paragraphs to present each side and make sure you present each side’s case fully and in a balanced way. If you use two paragraphs to introduce side A, use two paragraphs to introduce side B as well.

Step 3: Conclude by succinctly restating the sides to the issue, your own view and, finally, say what you think should be done. You don’t have to solve the problem, but you must come up with some concrete suggestions for improving the situation that could potentially work. Use logic and common sense and be very specific. Avoid generalizations here at all costs.
