In the reading for Module/Week 5, Marcus and Huston (2012) discuss team building issues in a learning organization. Consider the following scenario and address the

questions below.

Scenario:
You are a care coordinator in a home health agency. One of your responsibilities is to orient new employees to the organization. Recently, a new registered nurse was

hired. The new nurse came from an acute care unit at a local hospital. The new employee is very eager and is excited to leave acute care and have opportunities to work

with long-term patient and family cases.
During the orientation period, you find that the new RN has excellent clinical skills but is significantly lacking in therapeutic communication skills. You discuss

this with the new hire and explain how essential communication skills are in dealing with patients/families and establishing trust. You direct the new hire to

literature that you believe would be helpful.
Once the orientation period is complete (4 weeks), the new hire starts to work unsupervised. Unfortunately, you have received complaints from one of the other nurses

on the team and one from a patient related to the new hire’s communication skills. The new hire seems frustrated and has not socialized into the team. You have reason

to believe that some of the nurses on the team resent the excellent skills that the new hire has, other team members think the new hire does not fully understand the

role, and the team is becoming impatient. You are concerned that the new hire does not seem to be fitting in with the role and the team (Marquis & Huston, 2012, p.

375).

Based on this scenario, address the following questions:
