In order that your readers can understand the change in the discipline, you should begin by giving your readers a detailed analysis of the rhetorical practices that are typical in the field today. This means that you will analyze how people in the discipline use writing, reading, research, and any other communications. Describe these practices so that your readers can see the rhetorical features that make the discipline distinctive.
Then analyze the discipline in its cultural context and identify a condition that is causing, or will cause, a significant change in the rhetorical practices of the discipline. Predict what rhetorical changes can be expected and what rhetorical skills can be practiced in preparation for study in the discipline or for work in the profession.
This paper must quote from at least three sources of reading research that can be found in the "MSU library electronic resources," at least one of which should be the scholarly article that will be analyzed rhetorically. Another research source will be an interview with someone who has authoritative knowledge of the discipline or profession.
