Instructions:
Examine the state tests and report cards of Kansas. Then, you will be provided a set of test scores to examine. Let’s imagine these tests scores are from
"your" school in Kansas. Compare "your" school against the state tests and report cards.
It is your responsibility to determine how well your students did against the overall state and then communicate these results to the parents of the students in your
classroom. Imagine you will be delivering these results to them at the next Open House.
First, analyze who and what is being tested. Then, go through each of the student groups and compare their scores to the reading and math goals. Ask yourself three
questions:
1.) How many student groups met the school goals in reading and math?
2.) In what areas do you see strengths and areas of improvement?
3.) What would be the next steps in improving "your" school’s test scores?
