The relationship between the growth of a criminal justice program and student retention for 1st year students at a private nonprofit university.
Basically what I will be looking at is 1st year student retention numbers for Criminal Justice students, compared to Human Services and Psychology Students. By analyzing the institution numbers, and equating them to the growth of the CJ program from 2009 to 2015. The growth of the CJ program includes curriculum changes- faculty changes (bringing in faculty with working experience in the field) –advising changes made- addition of internships and the addition of the online program.
I would like to see what the correlation is between the program growth and retention. I may also add in overall enrollment numbers for each year and see if there was any correlation with the growth of the CJ department if you think that would enhance the research
In 2009 there were approximately 14 Cj Majors. This year we have approximately 170 majors. So it has grown exponentially over the last 6 years, and I believe there would be sufficient data on the retention numbers to research for my topic.
