• The paper assignment will pertain to a psychological disorder of your choice. You
will be required to choose a specific psychological disorder that has some
personal importance or personal significance to you for any reason. ( referencing the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder (DSM IV-TR), can give you listings of all currently recognized
disorders.)
Within your paper you will need to include:
• Your interest in this disorder
• What symptomology is associated with this disorder and what impact does it
have on those who struggle with it
• Any current empirical research
• Current recommended treatment modalities being utilized
• An in-depth response pertaining to what you have learned through this research and application
of the material to real world experiences. Include your personal reaction to the material.
A minimum of three references must be utilized. (Take caution to avoid overuse of any
one source). Credible, professional journal articles should be utilized as references for
this paper; many of which can be accessed via the web. Academic Search Premier database. There
are also resources that
are completely online based, such as WebMD; these should be utilized with caution and
sparingly. Only one internet source will be allowed and it should be one of established credibility.
All papers will be in a Microsoft Work Doc or rich text format, 12 point font, doublespaced, contain
one inch margins on all sides, be 3-5 pages in length, and contain a reference page in addition to
the body of the paper. APA or MLA formats will both be
acceptable. All papers should be checked carefully for errors (grammatical, typographical, spelling,
usage, etc.) before being submitted for credit as they may affect your grade.
