or it is restricted to choose only toxins that all have very similar action underlying the neurotransmission e.g: ketamine and phencyclidine?

Option 1 is good in that you can focus on one toxin, assuming you can find enough information
Option 2 is clearly easy but can become a bit disconnected
Option 3 is can work very well grouping toxins around a common action or target.
