explain how the galvanizing company works
First of all I have visited this company with my instructor a week ago .
And I he asked us to do a field report to him regarding what we saw in the factory which I have attached in the other file .
The professor asked us to explain how the galvanizing company works in detail in 4-5 pages . Then after that he asked me to improve the production line in order to increase the production .
In Every hour 5 tons of metal can be galvanized now
My mission is to increase the production in order to galvanize more than five tons in every hour .
Such as adding one more crane to hang the steel in it
Or having two dipping tanks ( GALVANIZE + COOLING )
Or finding new ongoing technologies which you can provide us with that can help us in reducing time and increase production
Note : The factory works 24/7 now so make sure that the solution doesn’t suggest adding more shifts for employees

OPERATION MANAGEMENT
AGC Co is called the Arabian Galvanizing Company, which its plant located, in Dammam 2nd Industrial City. Their factory job is galvanizing the steel under American standards in order to protect the steel for
generations and to give it more time to live.
Zinc plays the biggest role in galvanizing the steel and without it we cant galvanize the steel.
The process starts when the customer or the supplier sends his steel to the plant and asks for it to be galvanized.
After the approval of the quotation and the time given to them in order to finish it for both either the supplier or the customer the AGC Co start to galvanize the steel.
Firstly they unload the steel from the truck and put it in front of section 1 in the plant in order that it should be hanged in the Crain so it can deep inside each container and it should be sand blasted in order to
be make sure that their no paint in them.
Secondly they deep it in what they called “Caustic Soap” in order to get rid of the oil in the steel or grease.
Thirdly after that they go to two containers, which contains water to be cleaned from the “Caustic Soap”.
Fourthly they deep the steel in the acid container in order to remove all the mill.
Fifthly they deep it in a flux which is zinc ammonium chloride in the steel to allow the flux to dry in order
to help the process of the liquid zinc wetting and holding to the steel.
Sixthly they deep the steel in liquid Zinc with a temperature of (460 C ) for four to six minutes until the Zinc sticks in the steel .
At the end they deep galvanized steel in to a water container in order to allow the steel to cool down and reduce its temperature .
After all this the process of the galvanization finishes and it’s the time for inspection and quality control from the supervisor to make sure that every thing in under their specification and if its “OK” it continues
for paint if the customer or supplier asks for paint if not then they just contact them in order to come and collect their galvanized steel. If it isn’t “OK” with the quality control the zinc should be removed and the
hall process should be done again with the correct standards but I’ve been told that this particular factory that only 1-1.5 % from their operation in each month go back again because it didn’t meet their
standard the rest 98.5-99% goes once in their operation process.
