Cultural Conversation Custom Essay

Using two primary essays, one cluster of research sources (newspaper article + other sources), and at least two other supplementary essays, enter a cultural conversation with your own questioning and thinking about technology and its effects on society as we know it.(positive and negative) In order to do so, you must first identify a problematic that exists between your two source essays and then explain how that problematic is situated as part of a larger conversation that is happening in our culture right now. Define the parameters of that conversation through your evidence: make clear who is arguing for what, and what are the stakes of the various arguments.

As the terms of the conversation become clearer, you will have to enter that conversation yourself, making judgments, asking questions, thinking hard. Strive to develop counterintuitive ideas, to make your reader pause and say, “I hadn’t thought of it that way before, but that makes a lot of sense.” You are not picking sides but, rather, trying to weigh and assess all sides so as to develop your own idea that moves beyond a simple pro or con position.

Your evidence should be the engine propelling your questioning and your thinking. Allow it to suggest its meanings and implications rather than trying to force it to say what you want it to say. Remember: each new piece of evidence needs to bring us some new, deeper insight. If a piece of evidence merely repeats what has already been shown, it is not adding anything to the conversation.
